Don’t forget Christchurch, business groups and investors say (The Press)

The new Government has been urged not to forget the Christchurch rebuild as it juggles its parties’ election promises.

Business groups and investors say the city needs cash and workers, and fear both could be jeopardised.

Property investor Richard Peebles, who is leading major development projects including High St Lanes and the Riverside farmers market, said he hoped Christchurch “doesn’t get forgotten” in the rush to spend elsewhere.

“There are such a lot of promises and three parties. A lot of focus is up north and we hope we are not put to the bottom of list. They could turn around and say there’s no more money.”
